OUR MISSION

Patriotism. Transformation. Unity.

Launched on 7 February 2024 in Naguru, Kampala, the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) is the civic movement chaired by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. We organize the energy of young Ugandans into a disciplined force for patriotism, transformation, and unity within the NRM tradition.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

"We do not look for government jobs. Our primary interest is the transformation of our country and people."

— GEN. MUHOOZI KAINERUGABA, NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, PLU

PLU describes itself as a civic organization and political pressure group operating within the National Resistance Movement framework. As Gen. Muhoozi declared in June 2026, "PLU is the very powerful and dynamic youth wing of NRM. It has taken us 10 years to realise our dream."

From the original MK Movement that grew out of birthday rallies in 2021, to the formal PLU launch attended by over 50 MPs and ministers in 2024, the league has built a permanent civic presence — anchored in the sub‑regions of Ankole, Acholi, Tooro, Kigezi, Rwenzori, Busoga, West Nile and beyond.

SIX PILLARS

What we stand on.

Anti‑Corruption

Fighting graft at every level of government and society — the central obstacle to Uganda's transformation.

Environmental Conservation

Protecting Uganda's lakes, forests, wetlands, and ecosystems as the inheritance of the next generation.

Civic Engagement

Mobilising young Ugandans to participate actively in national affairs — not as spectators, but as builders.

National Cohesion

Preserving Uganda's social harmony across every tribe, faith, and sub‑region.

Patriotism & National Pride

Anchoring our identity in Ugandan dignity, African self‑reliance, and the NRA/NRM liberation legacy.

Generational Leadership

Giving institutional voice to Uganda's young‑adult majority within the Movement's tradition of service.

THE AGENDA

Concrete pledges. Real commitments.

Not slogans — programs already in motion. From the Shs 1 billion MK Fund to the Birthday Charity Run that raised over UGX 1bn for vulnerable children, PLU's agenda is measured in receipts, not promises.

01

The MK Fund

A Shs 1 billion non‑repayable grant facility launched 8 February 2026 to finance youth‑led enterprises in agriculture, agro‑processing, light manufacturing, and trade. Administered by Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, Edwin Karugire, and Col. Christopher Muwumba.

02

Anti‑Corruption

Corruption is the central obstacle to Uganda's development. PLU frames generational leadership as a clean break from patronage politics — at every level, in every district.

03

Wealth Creation

Backing the four sectors President Museveni has identified as critical — commercial agriculture, agro‑processing, manufacturing, and services — with grants, training, and market access for young Ugandans.

04

Charity & Social Welfare

The 52nd Birthday Charity Run on 26 April 2026 at Kololo raised over UGX 1 billion for vulnerable children under the theme "Run for Charity, Run for Hope".

05

NRM Continuity

Nationwide mobilisation in support of President Museveni's 2026 campaign — with PLU coordinators submitted to the NRM Secretariat at district and regional level across the country.

06

Sovereign, Pan‑African Uganda

Economic sovereignty, African self‑reliance, and the dignity of Ugandans controlling their own resources — extending the NRA/NRM liberation tradition into the next generation.

"Together, we have turned a personal milestone into a community empowerment initiative."

— GEN. MUHOOZI KAINERUGABA, ON THE 2026 BIRTHDAY CHARITY RUN
